Pune has a robust transportation infrastructure. The city is well-connected by road, rail, and airways from major Indian cities.
By Air:
The Lohagaon airport is located 12 kilometres from the main city. Major domestic airlines such as Indian, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, and Air Deccan are operating flights between Pune, and some of the prominent Indian cities. Also, international flights to Singapore and Dubai also fly from the domestic airport.

MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) is in the process of finalizing location to build a world-class international airport in Pune.
By Rail:
Pune is an important station in the Indian railway network. The city has two main stations: Pune railway station, and Shivajinagar station, and all major long distance train halt at Pune station.

For convenience of daily commuters, the city operates local trains from Pune railway station that connects different parts of the city as well as the nearby industrial towns of Pimpri, Khadki, and Chinchwad. At present, local trains ply from Pune till Lonavala, and from Mumbai till Karjat and Khopoli. Plans are underway to connect Karjat with Lonavala, and make daily commuting between Mumbai and Pune convenient. Railway authorities have laid down a new broad gauge line between Panvel and Karjat that has significantly shortened the distance between Mumbai and Pune by 29 kilometres.

Regular trains such as Deccan Queen, Deccan Express, Indrayani, Pragati and Shatabdi ply between Mumbai and Pune on a daily basis. The train journey takes around 4 to 5 hours.
By Road:
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway is a boon for people travelling between Mumbai and Pune. Inter-city luxury buses operated by Maharashtra State Road and Transportation Corporation as well as private operators such as Raj Travels, Neeta Travels, etc. play a vital role in connecting the financial capital of Mumbai, with the cultural capital of Pune.

Every part of the city is well-connected by a seamless network of well maintained roads. Buses operated by Pune Municipal Transport regularly ply in the city. Autorickshaws, Cool Cabs and regular omni taxis ease travelling within Pune.
