Cover Letter
Contact InformationThis section should include your full name (as it appears on academic records and other documents). Mention your detailed postal address along with your mobile number. It is advisable to share an alternate number in case of your unavailability. The email address should be formal, and not unprofessional [For e.g. rahul_sinha@xyz.com or rahul.sinha@xyz.com are good examples of formal and professional email ids. Email addresses similar to hunk_rahul@xyz.com should be avoided]
The email id shared should be active and checked regularly.
Career ObjectiveThe objective should be more what you can do for the employer rather than vice versa.
If the potential employer sees that your objectives are his targets then you have become a potential candidate, this is a good technique to quickly grab the attention of the reader.
The resume objective should be:
• Clear and concise.
• Contains resume action verbs.
• Contains job & skill related keywords.
Education QualificationsYour education section should always follow the objective statement for freshers, whereas for experienced candidates it could go towards the end of your resume.
All degrees should be mentioned in reverse chronology (i.e. listing the most recent qualification first)
Degrees should not be abbreviated but in fact spelled out since there are a lot of variations and can often be misleading or confusing. (For E.g. PGDMM could stand for Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management)
If you have had and achievements in your education program; make sure you include it in your resume.
Work ExperienceList all your experiences in reverse chronological order.
Include the following information in each job listed in your resume
• Name of the organisation
• Brief (1-2 line)description of the organization
• Job Title/ Designation
• Location- City, Country (if not in India)
• Date/ Duration of Employment
• Job Responsibilities (Use phrases; not complete sentences)
Accomplishments• List any special achievements, including professional, personal and/or academic achievements
• These can include grades, awards, nominations and/or recognitions.
Personal Details• Date of birth
• Marital status
• Languages known
Extra- Curricular Activities • Include any hobbies, interests and/or sports.
Personal interests can tell as much about you as your work experience. Interests can demonstrate ambition, discipline, teamwork, creativity and uniqueness.
